I’m reading the books on my Kindle, I have no intention of going outside the Kindle ecosystem, and I value having my books stored in the cloud where I can easily snag them whenever I care to, as many times as I care to. Assuming that’s the way they’re going, this gives us the widest range of formats available and the greatest flexibility on where we can use their products.īecause I honestly don’t particularly care about Kindle DRM. I’m not sure why y’all are so down on such a model. However, if they can make it work economically, I would prefer Black Library ebooks and audio files available DRM-free.

Granted, I suspect that Black Library will get completely hammered by people pirating books if they go DRM free. If you change readers, you simply go back to Baen and download books that you’ve purchased in another format.įrom my point of view, the extra hassle with not having the book automatically transferred (as it would be if I bought from the Amazon store) is more than made up for by the fact that everything is DRM free. Baen provides DRM-free versions in HTML, Mobi, ePub, Microsoft Reader, Sony Reader, and RTF formats. For example from a consumer standpoint, I prefer Baen Books model over Amazon. Let’s see what their DRM method looks like before complaining.

It’s too bad, I was looking forward to that. No audiobooks through Audible means I won’t be buying any of those either.
